A revamp of toilet facilities at Geelong’s historic Ss Peter & Paul’s Church, has been finalised with parish members welcoming the new amenities.

Bisinella Developments donated their time, expertise and costs of materials for the revamp of the existing toilet block at the Geelong West Catholic Church on the corner of Mercer and Malone Streets, which was in need of repair.

Peter Serra at Select Architects and Dean Bertuch at BSA Building Surveyors also donated their expert advice and service for the project.

Parish Priest Father Prakash Cutinha said “the 100 plus year old toilet block at Ss Peter & Paul’s Church was in desperate need of a total revamp”.

“The old facilities were archaic, dark and very dingy and not user friendly.  The newer, 21st century, modern facilities are clean, bright, fresh and an asset that compliments a beautiful church,” he said.

“Ss Peter & Paul’s Church hosts many services in addition to weekend Masses, including weddings, baptisms and funerals.  The revamp means we are now able to provide amenities that are modern, bright and more user friendly. With the added facility of a unisex disabled access, all parishioners and visitors are able to utilise these amenities.”

“We are so very grateful to Bisinella Developments for their contribution and assistance in revamping the toilets.  Our church community greatly appreciates their generosity.”

Bisinella’s director Richard Bisinella said as soon as they found out about the need for the repairs of the toilet facilities they immediately offered to donate their time and money to fix them.

“Ss Peter & Paul’s Church is a beautiful church which has played an integral role in the Geelong community for many years and continues to do so. I am very pleased parish members now have access to upgraded facilities which includes disabled access.”

Mr Bisinella said he was very proud of the workmanship of the contractors involved and for the support and effort from Bisinella’s Project Manager Mick Bisinella, in completing the project.

Father Cutinha said comments provided by their regular parishioners included mention of how lovely, bright and fresh the new facilities were and what a great change they were from the old toilets.
