Husband-and-wife team Joe and Melina, who head up Augello Homes, buy blocks of land to build move-in-ready spec homes. Recently, they built a spacious four-bedroom family home in Lara with land purchased from Bisinella in the Apple Gum Estate.
Situated in a tranquil setting with parkland on its doorstep, yet with easy access to the highway and train line for commuters to easily get to Melbourne from Geelong, Apple Gum Estate was an ideal location for Joe and Melina.
“With the developments that Bisinella offer they always create amazing green spaces and family spaces which is a drawcard to a development,” Melina says.
“Bisinella has land where we like to build like in Lara where there’s growth. There are a few areas in Lara that Bisinella is offering, and I chose Apple Gum because of the location.”
Melina says choosing a location with the right setting, such as being close to a park or lake while having amenities closeby, is important when selecting the right block of land.
“The feedback I’ve gotten from the property now that it’s finished is that it is an unbelievable location because of the parkland that’s in front of us. It’s a really tranquil spot,” she says.
Young families are drawn to the area, with a sports precinct and a big shopping centre with major retailers in Lara, as well as being in the catchment for several primary and high schools.
“We have a good community in Apple Gum Estate where everybody looks out for everybody,” Melina adds.
With stunning sunsets, views of the You Yangs and Torquay beach a stone’s throw away, residents in Lara feel like they’re in a peaceful rural setting while being only a 15-minute drive to Geelong and a 40-minute commute to Melbourne.
“You feel like you’re away from the hustle and bustle. You get the best of both worlds. It’s like the country meets the city,” Melina says. “You can get all that beautiful nature, but you can catch a train to Melbourne or to Geelong. Everything’s within arm’s reach.”
When it comes to buying land and choosing the right spot, Melina says it’s important to take into consideration everything that you want in a home first. “Buying land is a very personal journey. You need to buy the right block to suit what you want in a home,” she says.
“You need to really take into consideration the type of house you want and the aspects of how the block is situated. When I’m purchasing a block, I’m picturing where north is, where can I put my entertaining area, what I’m looking out at and what’s behind me.”
Melina says there are no hurdles when it comes to working with Bisinella. “They go out of their way to help to make sure they can accommodate the request and make sure the customer is happy. I’ve never known Richard (Bisinella) not to put the customer first,” she says.
“The process of purchasing the land was very easy, I didn’t have to go into the office at all and they were very prompt in their responses. If I needed any questions answered, it was very professional and easy and quick.”
