Bisinella Developments is supporting three emerging community leaders from Lara and Geelong’s northern suburbs with scholarships for a Committee for Geelong leadership program.

Activate is an eight-week leadership program which will be held online from 23 July to 10 September, 2020.

There has been high demand for Activate, with the new-look online program almost fully booked.

Eighteen Geelong residents, including the three Bisinella scholarship recipients, are set to take part in this year’s program which supports emerging leaders in exploring the foundations of leadership.

Activate also assists participants in gaining confidence, knowledge, skills and strategies to lift their leadership capacity for personal, professional and community benefit.

Almost 100 Geelong participants have taken part in Activate programs since they started.  Bisinella has proudly provided 20 Activate scholarships to emerging leaders from Lara and the northern suburbs since the business started supporting the initiative in 2017.

Margaret Foulkes, Committee for Geelong’s Leadership Portfolio Delivery Co-ordinator, said there had been overwhelming interest in the program.

“Online delivery of the next Activate leadership program has appealed to those looking for opportunities to develop capabilities during COVID-19. They are also keen to learn about and adopt different styles of leadership to benefit interactions with others.”

The Bisinella scholarships cover the fees for the eight-week online program which was launched in Geelong in 2016.

The program also helps our future leaders develop a strategic understanding of the challenges facing Geelong and the region. The program will include weekly online seminars including workshops and guest speakers.

Bisinella Director Richard Bisinella said leadership skills were vital now more than ever.

“It is wonderful news that Activate will be starting soon, in an online format.”

“Activate is a fantastic platform for our future leaders to learn valuable skills which they can take away and apply to their own professional and personal situations within our community.”

Ms Foulkes said “leadership in a time of crisis poses a whole new set of challenges”.

“These challenges are sudden, unexpected and more extreme, creating situations we have not experienced before and often there are no precedents for dealing with them.”

“They also present possibilities for the transformation of individuals and for whole societies to lead a response, which results in new capabilities and qualities within our Geelong community.”
