Geelong Football Club’s BioCATS program returns to GMHBA Stadium

Geelong star Patrick Dangerfield has relaunched the club’s BioCATS community program at GMHBA Stadium.

Sponsored by Bisinella Developments, BioCATS is an experiential learning program aimed at primary school students.

During the one-day program students and teachers participate in dynamic scientific experiments, using problem solving, statistical analysis and observation skills to learn about the science and mathematics of football and career pathways in sport.

Dangerfield is the BioCATS ambassador and is a strong supporter of the program that started in 2012 and is run from the Deakin Cats Community Centre.

BioCATS is designed and delivered in partnership with BioLAB: Victorian Bioscience Education Centre, with the aim of increasing awareness of the application of science and maths in real life scenarios.
The program has returned to on-site learning after it was tailored for remote and class-room based learning in 2020, due to COVID-19 restrictions.

Bisinella Developments is in its seventh year of partnership.

“Our club is always seeking ways to improve young people’s lives and BioCATS is a great example of this,” Dangerfield said.

“BioCATS reinforces the concepts of health and wellness and the benefits that come from sports participation. It is interactive and the kids learn practical concepts that serve them well.”

Bisinella Director Richard Bisinella said he was delighted the interactive program had returned to the Deakin Cats Community Centre.

“Bisinella is proud to sponsor this unique program. Since its inception BioCATS has introduced thousands of primary school students across the state to the science and maths of football."

“The experiential program gives students the fantastic opportunity to go into the inner sanctum of the Geelong Football Club, meet their heroes and learn about the benefits of sport and a healthy lifestyle, in a fun and interactive way.”
