The Bisinella Community Centre opened in 2010 in the national-award winning Grand Lakes Estate, Lara.
Since then, the centre has provided Lara residents, including those from Grand Lakes Estate, with modern and convenient facilities for accessing a range of community activities.
The prestigious Grand Lakes Estate, Lara was built from late 2008 until 2015 and is now a vibrant community of more than 2000 residents.
The 800 lot estate was built around a stunning 18 hectare expanse of lakes, wetlands and parkland laced by a network of boardwalks and walking and cycling trails.
The main entry to Grand Lakes Estate Lara is off Buckingham Street, Lara, with the estate bounded by Buckingham Street, O'Hallorans Road and Canterbury Road West.
As well as the Bisinella Community Centre the estate features a state-of-the-art community playground and barbecue area and Millars Cafe. As of 2018, a childcare centre is under construction.
Grand Lakes Estate was also the first estate in the northern region of Geelong to offer high speed optical fibre connection to the properties.
In 2016, Grand Lakes Estate set the benchmark around the country when it won the urban development industry’s national award for environmental excellence.
Grand Lakes became the first residential estate in the Geelong region to win this award.
The national award followed the estate taking top honours at the Urban Development Institute of Australia’s annual Victorian awards for excellence in 2015. Grand Lakes was judged the best residential estate and also won the award for environmental excellence.
Grand Lakes Estate retains the rural atmosphere of Lara while providing its residents with easy access to transport links, shopping centres, schools, recreation facilities and community services. It also provides splendid views of the You Yangs.
