Bisinella Developments is offering three emerging community leaders from Lara and Geelong’s northern suburbs with scholarships to Committee for Geelong’s leadership program, Activate.
The next eight-week Activate program which runs from 23 July to 10 September, will be held online. Applications for the course are now open.
Margaret Foulkes, Committee for Geelong’s Leadership Portfolio Delivery Co-ordinator, said in light of the COVID-19 pandemic the Leadership Portfolio Team had reviewed the program and were excited to announce Activate#10 would be delivered online.
“Leadership in a time of crisis poses a whole new set of challenges. These challenges are sudden, unexpected and more extreme, creating situations we have not experienced before and often there are no precedents for dealing with them,” Ms Foulkes said.
“They also present possibilities for the transformation of individuals and for whole societies to lead a response, which results in new capabilities and qualities within our Geelong community.”
Launched in Geelong in 2016, Activate supports emerging leaders in exploring the foundations of leadership. It also assists them in gaining confidence, knowledge, skills and strategies to lift their leadership capacity for personal, professional and community benefit.
The program also helps our future leaders develop a strategic understanding of the challenges facing Geelong and the region. The program will include weekly online seminars including workshops and guest speakers.
Residents from Lara and the northern suburbs interested in a Bisinella scholarship for the online Activate program are encouraged to register their interest with the Committee. The scholarship covers the fees for the eight-week online program.
Almost 100 Geelong participants have taken part in Activate programs since they started. Bisinella has proudly provided 20 Activate scholarships to emerging leaders from Lara and the northern suburbs since the business started supporting the initiative in 2017.
Bisinella Director Richard Bisinella said leadership skills were vital now more than ever.
“It is wonderful news that Activate will be going ahead this year, in an online format.”
“Activate is a fantastic platform for our future leaders to learn valuable skills which they can take away and apply to their own professional and personal situations within our community.”
