Leading Geelong land developer Bisinella Developments is proud to sponsor the Lara Cricket Club for another season as the sporting association approaches its 150th anniversary next year.
Bisinella has supported the club since 2009 in a long-term partnership which Director Richard Bisinella said the organisation was extremely proud of.
“We are delighted to be able to sponsor the Lara Cricket Club for another season, particularly as the association edges closer to celebrating 150 years of community sport,” Richard said.
“From our perspective, we will continue sponsoring the club for as long as possible to ensure all children and families have access to sport.”
Funding provided by Bisinella has been used to purchase new cricket balls, recover training nets and complete necessary equipment maintenance.
Lara Cricket Club Chairman John Speirs said the funding allowed the club to keep their membership fees to a minimum.
“The Bisinella sponsorship allows the club to entice new Lara residents to play cricket at a low fee,” John said.
“This not only ensures inclusivity but is also means the club can continue to grow.”
Established in 1875, the Lara Cricket Club – which is part of the wider Lara Sporting Club – relies heavily on sponsors to ensure it has the necessary resources and facilities to accommodate new members.
“Sporting clubs rely on external funding and the Lara Cricket Club wouldn’t be where it is today without the commitment from our sponsors,” John explained.
“We have an excellent relationship with Bisinella, built over the last 16 years, and are extremely grateful for their continuing support.”
The club has approximately 180 members across the junior and senior teams but is hoping to see this number increase as the 2024-25 season gets underway on October 5.
“Our focus remains on promoting community sport and attracting new members,” John said.
“We have always encouraged young people throughout the Geelong region to participate in sport as a way of creating healthy and active lives and meeting new people.
“It is incredibly important that communities give people the opportunity to play sport.”
