Bisinella Developments has been proud to facilitate and support the growth of our longest-running tenant, Impact Fertilisers, over the past 30 years.
Impact (formerly Hi-Fert) commenced operations in a Bisinella-constructed warehouse in Heales Road, Corio, on 12 October 1989 – one of the first businesses to establish in what is now known as the Geelong Ring Road Employment Precinct (the GREP).
As the business grew into a leading supplier of fertilisers across eastern Australia, Bisinella developed and expanded the Heales Road complex in stages. The site now comprises more than 43,000 square metres of warehousing and associated buildings – all constructed, owned and leased by Bisinella.
Hi-Fert moved its head office from Adelaide to Melbourne following a major expansion of the Heales Road facilities in 2007 and was acquired by Impact in 2011.
The Corio warehouses have the capacity to hold 100,000 tonnes of finished product.
Lino Bisinella, Managing Director of Bisinella Developments, said his family company’s relationship with Impact Fertilisers has been significant for the Geelong economy.
“We have been able to support Impact by providing the land and constructing the new facilities to enable them to expand at Heales Road,” Mr Bisinella said.
“The Geelong operation is now their largest in Australia and they are a key user of GeelongPort.
“We congratulate Impact on celebrating 30 years at the Corio site and look forward to facilitating further growth in their business over the years ahead.”
Agribusiness contributes $1.5 billion annually to Gross Regional Product in the Geelong, according to the G21 Agribusiness Economic Profile (November 2018). It is the region’s second largest exporter at $1.4 billion, accounting for 17 per cent of total exports.
The industry employs 10,643 people, an increase of 1,699 jobs (19 per cent) from 2011 to 2016.
GeelongPort CEO Brett Winter said: “Impact Fertilisers continue to make an important contribution to the agribusiness sector, which is a key driver of the regional economy.
“Congratulations to Impact on 30 years in Corio and thank you for continuing to partner with GeelongPort.”
