Lara Cricket Club has appointed club stalwart Daniel Hughes as Senior Club Coach, ahead of its 2021/2022 season. Hughes will be supported in the role by Brad Scown, as Assistant Coach.
The 2021/2022 season was expected to start on 1 October 2021. The commencement date is yet to be confirmed due to the current COVID-19 lockdown.
Lara Cricket Club is expected to field one Senior Women’s team and five or six Senior Men’s teams, depending on numbers.
The club is also hoping to have a minimum of eight junior boy teams from Under 11s to Under 17s and a Stage Two girls’ team, for players aged 14-17. If there is sufficient interest, there will also be a Stage One girls’ team for participants from 10-13 years of age.
Lara Cricket Club’s John Speirs said the club was hoping depth through the lower grades would improve as the town grew with more people moving into Lara.
Bisinella has been a proud sponsor of Lara Cricket Club for the past 12 years.
“Our generous sponsors allow our club to keep costs at a minimum and encourage junior boys and girls to come and play for Lara,” Mr Speirs said.
