North Geelong Football and Netball Club (NGFNC) has broken a 12-year premiership drought, defeating East Geelong by 24 points in the 2025 Geelong and District Football Netball League (GDFNL) grand final.

The victory is being celebrated as a defining moment for the club, players and supporters, while reinforcing the value of community partnerships, including the long-standing support of major sponsor Bisinella Developments.

NGFNC President Darren Vandenberg said the premiership was a massive achievement for the club.

“For a northern suburb-based club and community, it shows that North Geelong is still a major force in the region,” he said.

“This premiership is a well-deserved acknowledgment to the many hard-working volunteers whose dedication and efforts have paid off.”

Darren said the scenes on grand final day reflected the special connection between the club and its supporters.

“The numbers of supporters wearing their North Geelong colours, and then the final siren when they ran onto the ground to celebrate with coaches and players - those moments will leave a lasting impact and positive memories for everyone involved,” he said.

Darren acknowledged the critical role of sponsors, fans and volunteers in helping achieve the flag, and said Bisinella Developments’ support in particular had given North Geelong stability and the ability to plan with confidence.

“Without all of them, we have no club or future,” he said.

“Their support allows us to attract even more great people to our club and community.

“Partnering with such a strong and trusted company like Bisinella has allowed us to set clear plans for now and into the future.

“It shows that both Bisinella and North Geelong share core community-focused principles and values.”

Through sponsorship, programs such as Auskick and junior football and netball have been able to expand.

“Our junior programs have again grown in great numbers this year thanks to Bisinella’s support, which ensured all programs had the equipment and facilities needed for young players to learn, make friends and develop their skills,” Darren said.

He added that the premiership confirmed the club was on the right path, while paying tribute to the broader community.

“We are a community-focused club and the future looks bright,” Darren said.

“Thank you to all involved - without everyone’s support, we may not have had this success.
